Jennifer WangOther

loved

I only checked a handful of youtube reviewers, but my favorite is Jennifer Wang, who seemed properly autistic about clothing quality and understanding that there are multiple places on the pareto frontier one might choose to occupy

Martyr MadePodcast Darryl Cooper

liked

I started listening to Darryl Cooper's Martyr Made last year as part of a deep dive on cults, but kept going because I found him incredibly insightful.

An 'epistemic spot check' review of Darryl Cooper's Martyr Made podcast; a 2022 update at the top says she stands by his long-form history work but not his current-events commentary.

It's Always SomethingBook Gilda Radner

liked

And I think she did a really good job portraying that- the ups and downs, what a positive attitude can and can not get you, the costs and benefits of fighting doctors and using alternative treatments. It was a very honest description of both hope and despair without become overwhelming.

recommended

So if you're either looking for an introduction to this issue or share my very strange definition of light reading, I highly recommend this book.

ThredUpService ThredUp

mixed

ThredUp was amazing when it was in the "VC free money" stage, but their return policy tightened up and it's now merely okay.

Why Does He Do ThatBook Lundy Bancroft

mixed

Overall, I think this book has some really good points and brings a lot to the table. It also propagates some really toxic ideas.

Every entry is a verbatim quote and a link to the public post it came from. Nothing is paraphrased. If it is not on record somewhere public, it is not here.

The verdict is what they actually said: loved and liked are explicit; recommended means they told others to get it; uses means they only say they use it; read is a book on their public shelf with no verdict; mixed and disliked are kept too.

A dashed affiliate link, sponsored or their own label means the post disclosed a relationship. It is shown, never hidden.

The shading behind a date shows how dated a recommendation is for its kind of thing.

The shading behind a date shows how dated a recommendation is, for its kind of thing. Fully green is recent. It drains a quarter at a time as the post gets older, and is empty once it reads as dated.

What counts as old depends on the thing. A laptop praised four years ago has been replaced twice; a book loved twenty years ago is probably still loved. The shading is gone after about:

Stripes mean the post carries no date and the date shown is an estimate. No date at all, no shading.
