loved

But on the whole, the RX100 gets it right – it is undoubtedly the best compact camera available today, especially from the point of view of image quality.

Comparative review of Sony's first RX100 compact against the Ricoh and Leica compacts he was using.

Nikon D800Hardware Nikon

loved

But what I can say is that the sensor is absolutely stunning, and remains one of the best, if not the best I've ever used – at least in 35mm format

Interim review of the D800 written while his own body was away for autofocus repair.

Leica M9-PHardware Leica

loved

I think the real verdict is that I'm now using the M9-P as my primary camera, even for things that it was not designed for, even when I have the choice to use something else.

Long-term review of the Leica M9-P rangefinder.

However, the real kicker here is that the images presented aren't just the single 'selected' iconic ones, but also the ones before and after – i.e. a contact sheet of that entire roll of film.

You're better served by the 85/1.8G; use the balance of funds for other glass, or buy one of my prints with some of the money you've saved (shameless plug).

Nikon AF-S 85/1.4 GHardware Nikon

mixed

Can I recommend the lens? For D800 users, honestly, no. You're better served by the 85/1.8G; use the balance of funds for other glass, or buy one of my prints with some of the money you've saved (shameless plug). It simply lacks the crispness I've seen with other bodies.

Lens review concluding the 85/1.4 G is worth it on some Nikon bodies but not the D800.

Every entry is a verbatim quote and a link to the public post it came from. Nothing is paraphrased. If it is not on record somewhere public, it is not here.

The verdict is what they actually said: loved and liked are explicit; recommended means they told others to get it; uses means they only say they use it; read is a book on their public shelf with no verdict; mixed and disliked are kept too.

A dashed affiliate link, sponsored or their own label means the post disclosed a relationship. It is shown, never hidden.

The shading behind a date shows how dated a recommendation is for its kind of thing.

The shading behind a date shows how dated a recommendation is, for its kind of thing. Fully green is recent. It drains a quarter at a time as the post gets older, and is empty once it reads as dated.

What counts as old depends on the thing. A laptop praised four years ago has been replaced twice; a book loved twenty years ago is probably still loved. The shading is gone after about:

Stripes mean the post carries no date and the date shown is an estimate. No date at all, no shading.
