6 things

CasablancaOther Michael Curtiz

loved

So every year I do a watch of Casablanca which is one of my favorite movies and it incidentally also has a character with my last name Yugarte which is like the only example of I think a Yugarte in the media. Um so Casablanca always a great rewatch.

DesiderataOther Max Ehrmann

loved

I love the desiderata which I don't know if you've read but um I have it on my on my door uh and I've had it since I was a teenager and everywhere I move I kind of paste it there and it's it's a very short poem but each line I just I find myself finding something new in it every time I read it and I find it really grounding.

MonkOther

liked

I sometimes sneak in an episode of Monk, the detective show, uh, which was one that I watched kind of as a kid with my family and I've come back to now that I live in San Francisco. And it's just a great moment in time snapshot of San Francisco in the late 90s, early 2000s when it was shot. Um, that I I really enjoy.

exaSoftware Exa

liked

I was like a very early user of of Metaphor at the time, which became EXA. And I love kind of using Exa to do all of these maybe more strange queries over the internet, but I see a lot of examples of people building like semantically search over, you know, an embedded image store of the MoMA or kind of things like that. And I always have so much fun playing with those.

Every entry is a verbatim quote and a link to the public post it came from. Nothing is paraphrased. If it is not on record somewhere public, it is not here.

The verdict is what they actually said: loved and liked are explicit; recommended means they told others to get it; uses means they only say they use it; read is a book on their public shelf with no verdict; mixed and disliked are kept too.

A dashed affiliate link, sponsored or their own label means the post disclosed a relationship. It is shown, never hidden.

The shading behind a date shows how dated a recommendation is for its kind of thing.

The shading behind a date shows how dated a recommendation is, for its kind of thing. Fully green is recent. It drains a quarter at a time as the post gets older, and is empty once it reads as dated.

What counts as old depends on the thing. A laptop praised four years ago has been replaced twice; a book loved twenty years ago is probably still loved. The shading is gone after about:

Stripes mean the post carries no date and the date shown is an estimate. No date at all, no shading.
